Unesco Creative Cities Network
Η Θεσσαλονίκη είναι ένα σταυροδρόμι γεύσεων, μία γαστρονομική μητρόπολη. Πουθενά αλλού στην Ελλάδα δεν πρόκειται ο επισκέπτης να βρεί τόσες πολλές διαφορετικές γεύσεις συνδυασμένες στο ίδιο τραπέζι, Βυζαντινές γεύσεις και τεχνικές συνεχίζουν να υπάρχουν σήμερα με την συνύπαρξη Οθωμανικών, Εβραϊκών και Γαλλικών επιρροών, ιδεών και προϊόντων. Τα απομεινάρια των Βυζαντινών συνηθειών, η κληρονομιά των Οθωμανικών παλατιών, οι παραδόσεις των προσφύγων από τον Πόντο, την Μικρά Ασία και την Κωνσταντινούπολη αναμείχθηκαν με τις Βαλκανικές παραδόσεις, τις Εβραϊκές συνήθειες και τη Γαλλική πρωτοπορία, δημιουργώντας το γαστρονομικό προφίλ της Θεσσαλονίκης. Διάσημη η πόλη για την παραδοσιακή της κουζίνα, για τα ψάρια και τα θαλασσινά της, μαγειρεμένα με τρόπους που προδίδουν την προέλευσή τους και τις επιρροές τους.
