The flavors of Lent at the Modiano Market

The response of the attendees to the “Flavors of Lent” event as part of the “Devotional Week” held at the Modiano Market was of important impact and large attendance. The public observed with great interest the chef ambassadors of the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Sotiris Evangelou and Dimitris Tsananas, in a unique cooking lesson where they prepared traditional fasting recipes. During this masterclass, visitors had the chance to taste and learn the cook-ing secrets of the multi-awarded Greek chefs, as well as question them on the intricacies of the delicious and nutritious Lent dishes, specifically the shrimp, barley prepared by Sotiris Evangelou and the honeyed, wine cuttlefish by Dimitris Tsananas. The delicious tasty and healthy Easter Lent recipes were made with fresh local products donated by the Modiano market sellers. The wines that accompanied the food tasting were sponsored by the Kehris winery. The event was held un-der the auspices of the Unesco Creative Cities Network for Gastronomy.
